PINE BUSH WATER DISTRICT

INCREASE AND IMPROVEMENT OF FACILITIES

SPECIAL MEETING NOTICE

PUBLIC HEARING NOTICE

PLEASE TAKE NOTICE that the Town Board of the Town of Crawford will hold a special meeting for the purpose of  holding a public hearing on September 29th, 2021 at 6:00 PM, in person at the Crawford Senior and Community Center, 115 State Route 302, Pine Bush, New York to consider and hear public comment on a proposed increase and improvement of the facilities of the Pine Bush Water District and to take action on said proposed increase and improvement of said facilities, and on any other business that may come before the board.  In addition, the public may attend this meeting via remote ZOOM videoconference, as described further below.

PLEASE TAKE FURTHER NOTICE that the proposed improvements include the purchase of property for the protection of two newly drilled water production wells and construction of a well house approximately 1,600 LF north of NYS Route 52 on Dubois Street (Tax Parcel: Section 2, Block 1, Lot 79.2), along with installation of a water main to connect to the Water District’s existing water system in the hamlet of Pine Bush. The proposed 20 feet x 30 feet treatment building would provide chlorination of the groundwater source and provision for future sequestration, if needed. Treated groundwater would be pumped to the Water District’s existing water system via approximately 6,100 feet of 8-inch diameter HDPE transmission main installed along NYS Route 52 and connected to the existing water system on State Route 52 across from Boniface Drive.

The estimated maximum cost of the proposed project is $4,762,100.  The County has previously secured a Local Government Efficiency Grant (in 2012 and 2015) in the amount of $920,200 for drilling and design work for the subsequently proposed wells on County land. The proposed wells on County land will be replaced by the newly drilled wells on the Dubois property. The Town has secured a WIIA grant from the State Environmental Facilities Corporation in the amount of $2,311,680, and Drinking Water State Revolving Fund Financial Assistance in the amount of $1,001,100 for the proposed well house and connection to the Dubois wells. Municipal contributions will be in the estimated amount of $540,000 grant match.  A map and plan of the proposed improvements is on file in the Town Clerk’s office.  All persons interested will be heard by the Town Board at the public hearing.

PLEASE TAKE FURTHER NOTICE that persons who attend the meeting via Zoom will be able to see and hear the meeting, but will not be able to make or submit oral or written comments during the meeting. Any person who attends by Zoom and  who wishes for his or her comment to be heard during a public hearing or the public comment session can send his or her comments in advance of the meeting to [email protected] or call 845-744-2020 by no later than 4:00 PM on September 29, 2021.

PLEASE TAKE FURTHER NOTICE that, to the extent practicable, the Town Board’s agenda will be made available online in advance of the meeting at www.townofcrawford.org.

All 55+ people are welcome to become members of the Pine Bush Seniors!

Meetings are held on Tuesdays at the Town of Crawford Community Center, Rt 302, Pine Bush, NY 12566.  Doors open at 11:00 starting with social time before a short business meeting at 12:15. At each regular meeting we hold a 50/50 raffle. Occasionally, we invite speakers to come discuss programs that are of general interest to seniors. After the business meeting, members who want to stay for Bingo are welcome. Bingo cards are $1 each.

No meeting is held if the Pine Bush Schools are closed or have a 2-hour delay due to inclement weather. To join, you must attend three meetings at no cost to you. After that, the dues are $2 for the meeting. Once you hit 90 years of age, there are no dues! Coffee, tea and snacks are provided at no charge, though we occasionally offer deeply discounted lunches, such as the corned beef sandwiches for Chinese New Year Celebration, St. Patrick’s Day, the the August barbecue.

During the year, we are offering bus trips to the dinner theater at Hunterdon Hills to see Matilda, Wind Creek Casino and Outlet Malls, and Villa Roma’s Octoberfest, which offers a hearty luncheon and a show. In addition, we will go to a local restaurant for the Installation of Officers luncheon. New calendars generally come out in January.
