Department Overview

The Director of Safety and Security supports the Town of Crawford by coordinating public safety initiatives, managing grant‑funded infrastructure projects, and overseeing key compliance responsibilities that help maintain a safe and well‑prepared community.

Responsibilities

  • Researches and prepares grant applications related to public safety and community infrastructure, including sidewalks, water and sewer improvements, emergency management, parks and recreation, and community development.
  • Administers projects funded through awarded grants and ensures compliance with program requirements, timelines, and reporting.
  • Manages FEMA application and reimbursement processes for eligible emergency and disaster‑related expenses.
  • Oversees the Town’s participation in the New York State License Event Notification System (LENS) for employee driving record monitoring.
  • Ensures Town compliance with applicable Department of Labor regulations and New York State insurance requirements.
  • Supports the Town’s emergency management planning, preparedness, and coordination with local, county, and state agencies.
