Town of Crawford 2020 Budget

“For Immediate Release”

9:00 am Tuesday, October 15, 2019

Town of Crawford 2020 Budget

Town of Crawford, 121 State Route 302, Pine Bush, New York

Supervisor Charles E. Carnes is pleased to announce the 2020 Town of Crawford Budget will once again be below the New York State Property Tax Cap for the 8th consecutive year.  This will enable Town residents to be eligible for any New York State tax credit reimbursements.  For 2020 there will be a minimal tax increase of .987% or less than 1%.

For 2020 the general tax levy will be $2,791,286 for the general budget in increase of $80,906 while the tax levy for the highway department will be $2,084,446 an increase of $24,941.

Rateables increased from $332,702,352 to $336,744,175 an increase of $4,041,823.

Water rates increased from $9.59 per unit to $10.00 per unit for an increase of about $10.00 per year for a single family home.

Sewer rate increased very slightly while lighting and parking rates remained roughly unchanged.

Unfunded mandates increased due to New York State raising the age law and expected ruling on court arraignments and representation for those accused of crimes.

The largest budget increases were police services, social services, IT and computers, medical and law enforcement.  We used $100,000 from our fund balance for our general budget and $25,000 from our highway balance.

The expansion of our walking trail was completed in 2019 as well as new park facilities and new equipment for the highway department.

In 2020 we anticipate a new water source for Pine Bush and a revitalization of the Bullville area. As well as new sidewalks in the shopping area downtown.  We also anticipate expanding our youth program.
